Over the past decade, data-driven digital transformation has significantly disrupted almost every vertical industry dramatically, shifting the way business is running and services offered. Furthermore, impactfully introduced new business approaches, products, services, and customer experiences seen in recent breakthroughs in generative AI, computer vision and social networks analytics as examples. Big Data has been at the core and the foundation of such transformation, where technologies have become mature and adopted globally. Yet business organizations and enterprises are catching up with the revolution in an endeavor to leverage data and big data, facing a key obstacle to employing the right calibers with deep business and technology skills.
In an effort to support the regional market, the School of Business Administration (BA) is joining forces with the School of Information Technology and Computer Science (ITCS) to offer the Business and Big Data Analytics (BBDA) Professional Diploma at NU. This synergy targets a new class of professionals combining business domain knowledge and big data and data science skills to solve complex real-world business problems at a scale, derive insights and offer competitive advantages for their organizations. BBDA courses are taught by academic-industry experts in a flexible delivery model that makes learning quite an enjoyable journey centered around interactions and collaboration while enriched by industry best practices and hands-on activities.

Course Structure
The BBDA diploma requires the successful completion of 4 courses over two semesters collectively covering business and technology aspects of the interned learning outcomes. Additionally, a directed capstone project based on selected scenarios imitating real-life challenges and solutions is required to be completed on a third semester. The following is the courses structure and number of hours:
- Statistics for Business Decisions (36 Hours)
- Business Data Mining and Data Processing (36 Hours)
- Big Data Applications for Business Analytics (36 Hours)
- Business Intelligence for Enterprise Applications (36 Hours)
- Capstone Project based on real-life scenarios (36 Hours)
Delivery Model
Courses are delivered as blended learning including one concentrated subsequent 4 physical session on Saturdays – each session from 11am to 3pm – with directed online learning and interactions throughout the week. Each course typically spans around 6 calendar weeks concluded by final examination/presentation on last Saturday of the course.
Applicant Eligibility
- B.Sc. degree in a suitable discipline like business, engineering, or sciences.
- Three years of practical experience in sounding business domain.
- Satisfy the graduate program English requirement (TOFEL 500 or equivalent)
- Pass a background check and an interview.
Scholarships are available in 100%, 50% and 25% rates subject to evaluation of the applicant’s status, qualifications, and career achievements on a case-by-case basis.

Meet the BBDA Key Sponsor and Doner
Dr. Amr is currently the CEO and co-founder of Vectara and previously served as the VP of Developer Relations for Google Cloud. Before joining Google, Amr co-founded Cloudera in 2008 and was its Global CTO. He also served as the VP of Product Intelligence Engineering at Yahoo from 2000-2008, which he joined after they acquired his first startup, Aptivia, in mid-2000. Amr received his Ph.D. in EE from Stanford University and his bachelor's and master's degrees from Cairo University, Egypt.
